Free Fuel Efficiency Check

Our free fuel efficiency check may take only 20 minutes, but that is a very full 20 minutes. In the efficiency check, we will:

• Check your air filter
• Check your car's emmissions
• Report on your tyre wear, and even set to the corrct pressures
• Check and report on the condition of the oil in your car

All these points will help your car run more efficiently. Also, there is no need to make an appointment, just bring it in and we'll get one of our fully trained technicians to check your car over.

Here are some free tips that you can check to help your car save fuel.

Weight
The heavier the car, the more power it needs to move and so the more fuel your car needs to use. Be sure to leave anything that is not needed for your journey at home to decrease the load of the car.

Rolling Resistance
If your vehicle has under inflated tyres, they will have a higher rolling resistance - meaning there is more of the tyre in contact with the road surface and so more engine power is required to move the car.

Aerodynamics
Air drag increases depending on the speed you are travelling in your car. This means that at faster speeds, the force needed to move the car through the air becomes huge. This isn't helped if you have a roof rack on your car that you aren't using.

Another factor that can affect the drive is having windows or sunroof open. If you don't need them open, then keep them closed.

Drive
Your driving style could also adversely affect your fuel efficiency. When you're driving:

• Accelerate gently
• Brake smoothly
• Change gear early (between 2,000-3,000 rpm)
• Try not to speed up/slow down whilst driving, so if possible try to avoid roads with excessive speed bumps.
